?The development of a novel ultrashort antimicrobial peptide nanoparticles with potent antimicrobial effect

چکیده

Conventional antibiotics are facing significant microbial resistance, which has recently reached previously unnoticed critical levels. As a result of this situation, large proportion antimicrobial agents currently used in the clinic have significantly reduced therapeutic potential. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) may offer medical community an alternative strategy to traditional fight against resistance. Current research efforts focused on developing technologies that reduce AMP toxicity while retaining their potent activity and possibly improving delivery. The ionotropic gelation method was encapsulate novel in-house designed ultrashort peptide (USAMP) into chitosan-based nanoparticles (CS-NPs) study. WRWRWR -CS-NPs were tested for antibacterial kinetics two strains Staphylococcus aureus four days, developed showed 3-log decrease number colonies when compared CS-NP 5-log control bacteria. Loaded CS-NPs could represent innovative approach develop delivery systems based NPs technology achieving effects multi-drug resistant biofilm forming bacteria with negligible systemic synthetic costs obstructing clinical development AMPs generally.

The Identification of a Novel Peptide Derived from Lactoferrin Isolated from Camel Milk with Potential Antimicrobial Activity

Background and Objective: Antimicrobial peptides have attracted significant attention in recent decades because of their properties, such as rapid bactericidal effects, having a wide spectrum of activity, and a rare development of drug resistance. The purpose of this study was to examine the antibacterial activity of a peptide derived from the lactoferrin isolated from camel milk against Staphy...

A Novel Defensin-Like Peptide Associated with Two Other New Cationic Antimicrobial Peptides in Transcriptome of the Iranian Scorpion Venom

Introduction: Scorpion venom is a source of bioactive peptides, and some antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been found in the venom gland of scorpions. Therefore, the discovery of new anti-infective agents is an essential need to overcome the problem of antibiotic resistance of clinical isolates. Here, we describe three new cationic AMPs, including meuVAP-6, meuAP-18-1, and meuPep34 from the ve...

Design and Synthesis of a Novel Cationic Peptide with Potent and Broad-Spectrum Antimicrobial Activity

Antibacterial and antifungal peptides have increasingly been used to combat the antibiotic-resistant microbes in recent years. KW-13, a novel cationic α-helical antibacterial peptide consisting of 13 amino acid residues, was designed and chemically synthesized. The peptide has a net charge of +6 with a total hydrophobic ratio of 38%. The antibacterial experiments revealed that KW-13 strongly in...

Synthesis of bioinorganic antimicrobial peptide nanoparticles with potential therapeutic properties.

Amphiphilicity and cationicity are properties shared between antimicrobial peptides and proteins that catalyze biomineralization reactions. Merging these two functionalities, we demonstrate a reaction where a cationic antimicrobial peptide catalyzes self-biomineralization within inorganic matrices. The resultant antimicrobial peptide nanoparticles retain biocidal activity, protect the peptide f...
